Romania, 4 October 2010

Hey everybody,

This week we had transfers, we moved to a different apartment, and we went to conference.  It's really wierd that we didn't actually do a lot of missionary work except for what we could get in here and there in between all of the things we had to take care of.  I'm still here in Bucharest and my companion was here her first transfer and has come back.  It's nice that she knows the city so I don't have to worry about losing her.  Sora Holman is my companion and she is in her fourth transfer (it's wierd to think that I'm in my fifth already, it goes by really fast).

Ed, I never intentionally used my 'evil sister powers' to skip to the front of the lines, but sometimes elders would notice that I was a girl and tell me to go up to the front.  It was kind of annoying sometimes.  It was annoying too when elders would try to take my tray to the drop off place just because they felt obligated to by their branch presidents.  Don't worry though Ed, the sisters receive no special treatment in the mission field, and the elders always call us the day before, or the morning of, to tell us that we have to teach a lesson at church or give a talk, or do something for district meeting.  And Ed, when you are teaching a non-member and there is a member there who is saying crazy things this is the solution: invite another member to come who is super talkative but who actually knows what their doing.  They will put the other member in their place.  (In Romania you can also just tell people to shut up and they don't get offended).

I don't have a picuture book of Utah, Pete.  It was really cool looking at the pictures from your blog.  All of the little kids look more grown up now.  I need to see some pictures of Jerm and Emily now, because they probably look different.  Probably Ed and Tom do too, so you guys should send some pictures with your next emails.

I got invited to go to mission counsel this time, but then it got postponed so I haven't gone yet.

We nashed a boboaca this week: we got to have the brand new sister stay with us for her first evening.  We went and knocked doors in the blocs that we were working on.  It was fun to have her there with us, and we wanted really badly to get in somewhere so that she could have a good experience her first night in Romania.  We knocked a bunch of doors and she actually did a good job.  People seem to listen more carefully and actually care what you have to say if you stumble over it as badly as a boboaca, but they probably actually have more faith than us.  It's good to be with boboci every once in a while.  We found a guy that we will go back and teach this week; he was leaving as we knocked on his door but he was really interested in what we had to say about families.
We started going home and we hadn't had a lesson in the blocs, but I spotted a buy on a bench and we went and talked to him.  We sat down and taught him the first lesson.  He knew a little bit of English so he said some things to Sora Mullen in English so that she could understand.  He was a nice guy and we have called him a couple of times since them to keep up on him.

I'm looking for a picture to send to you guys right now, but I didn't take any since last week at Pelesh.  So I don't have anything different to send to you guys.  The first one is of some Recent Converts that we work with here in Bucharest, and the other one is a picture of the entrance of the internet place that we go to a lot, it's way sketch, but that's what you can find here in Buch.

We watched conference at 7 pm Saturday night and at 3pm and 7pm Sunday night.  We just don't get to watch the Sunday afternoon session.  I guess it's not broadcast at a time other than 11pm here.  It's awesome to go to conference.  There was one speaker who said "A living prophet is more important than a dead one."  I used it later in the day when we were talking to a guy in the park.  It's really cool to watch conference.  We got to see two of the sessions in English because the mission president was there to watch those ones too.

Okay, that's probably all for now.  Talk to you later.

Love,
Sora Jay
