Querida Familia,

We went to lunch on Friday and the sister told us that there had been a huge earthquake in the US and lots of people had died, but the people say that everthing happens in the US, so I guessed that it had happened somewhere else and she had just said the US. One of the sisters in our district got a little worried though. Was there much damage on the west coast?

This week was pretty good. We had a conference with three zones, and they talked a lot about teaching families and help recent-converts become strong in the church. The Brazil area has the lowest retention in the world, and João Pessoa has the worst retention in Brazil. It was the highest baptizing mission in the world, but the missionaries baptized just for numbers and now there are tons and tons of inactive members. Our focus should be conversion, and baptism is a step in the conversion process.

President Hall told us that the new chapel will be dedicated the first or second week of April, but I´m sure there won´t be enough room for all of the people that will come to the dedication. We have talked to hundreds of people that won´t to go visit the "most beautiful church in the city." President Hall said that we have the chance to change the entire city of Guarabira. The members just have to be ready to recieve all of the people that will come.

This week Ryssa, a young women that we baptized two months ago gave a talk in church. The branch president called her Saturday night, but she accepted and gave a really good talk. She talked about faith and said that the first time she prayed about the Book of Mormon, she didn´t pray with faith becuase she didn´t want it to be true and she didn´t want to change her religion or anything, but that after talking to us a little more, coming to church and thinking really good she prayed again and recieved an answer.
