After the death of my father, I decided to move to TUNISIA under political asylum. Oops, I started writing the e-mail in portuguese and had to start over.

This week I found out that I am old on the mission. One of the missionaries that I trained (Elder Woolley) is training a new missionary (Elder Felix). That means that I am a grandpa, and all of us are in the same district. I am the district leader and my companion is my second son, Elder Wright, and the other companionship is Elder Woolley and Elder Felix. It is just me and my descendents in my district,  I think this makes me a patriarch.

This week we baptized a young-woman named Beatriz. Her cousin is a recent-convert and she has a group of friends that are members. Her aunt wants to be baptized as well, but she lives in a house that belongs to a freira (a catholic lady) and she has to find a new house first because the freira will kick her out if she goes to church with us. 

I have learned here in Bom Jardim how important the members are in the missionary-work. Almost everyone that I have baptized are family or friends of recent-converts or members. A lot of times we don't talk to the people that have family in the church because we assume that they have already been taught and didn't want to accept the message, but we just have to talk with everyone.

Querida familia,

This week was good. We had transfers today but all of my district stayed. I thought that one of us was going to leave for sure and we made all of the members and investigators think that we were leaving as well. Last night we passed by the church during seminary and I made the cell-phone ring and pretended that it was the transfer call and that both Elder Wright and I had been transfered. Everyone got all quiet, and then I started to laugh and told them it was fake.

This week we baptized an 18-year-old girl named Paloma and a kid named Erick. Both of them are really good and will stay firm in the church. Erick has two cousins in the ward that are returned missionaries that will help him and Paloma has a strong testimony and already made friends with the members. We are trying to baptize Erick´s family as well. His older sister has come to church five times, his mom two times, and his dad came to watch the baptism.

I don't know if I told you yet, but we have mice in our house sometimes. The first one we got with a mouse trap, but the other we killed with shoes. The last one was a team effort, the mouse was running around the house and hid under the fridge, so we made a plan. Elder Muncy would shifted the fridge to make the mouse run. He booked it under the table heading for the stove, but Elder Wright was already there and swept him out in the open with the broom. I was waiting with my shoe, and it ended. It was good because we learned how to work as a team.

Querida Família,

This week was good. It is weird that Ariel is already home, her
mission passed really fast and I still have nine months. That is a
school year, but the time passes really fast. Congratulations for
serving an honorable mission Ariel and never forget the things that
you learned. You were a good example for me, I remeber the day you
went to the MTC I wanted to enter the same day with you. Remember that
you don't return from your mission, you just get transferred to you
house.

This week we had two baptisms. One was a woman who has been coming to
church for more than a year and finally got married on Friday. Her
husband was already a member. She really wanted to get baptized and
she already recieved a calling in the same meeting that she recieved
the gift of the Holy Ghost.

The second is a woman who has two sons that are members we brought her
sons back to church and helped gain a testimony and be baptized. Both
of the baptisms were really good.
